Starry is hiring a
Rust Lead Systems Software Engineer

Compensation: $90k - $200k *

What you'll do: Using your extensive knowledge of Linux, C, C++, Rust and physical hardware you'll lead a small team of three to six engineers in the development of the software that powers Starry's portfolio of millimeter wave radios and indoor WiFi products. Along the way you'll have the opportunity to work cross functionally alongside our RF, electrical, validation, network operations, and mechanical engineering teams to define product requirements, scope features, and influence the design of Starry's current and future products. Who we’re looking for:

You are a principal level engineer looking for the next level up in your career or a hands-on technical lead with a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent discipline/experience. You are an expert in C++ and / or Rust and have tackled the bring-up of physical hardware on Linux (DACs, ADCs, PHYs, SoC IP, PLLs, etc). You have successfully led the development of large features and components from concept all the way through to deployment. You have at least seven years of software development experience which are a mix of low and high level software. You enjoy mentoring other engineers and are excited to help others advance their career.

Bonus points if you…

You have a solid understanding of WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 (802.11ac / 802.11ax). You enjoy digging into murky issues at the boundary of hardware and software. You creatively use software to make hardware exciting and meaningful. You have in depth knowledge of general networking concepts and hands on experience debugging networking issues.

Double bonus points if you…

You possess a detailed understanding of millimeter wave and/or other RF technologies. You have a knack for debugging issues from hardware all the way up the stack. You are an active contributor to and / or are passionate about open source software. You are driven to learn new languages and technologies while having fun in a fast paced / fluid environment.
