SingleStore is hiring a
Rust Software Engineer, LaunchPad Intern (Summer 2023)

Compensation: $20k - $40k *

CA San Francisco, California, United States

Position Overview The Launch Pad team is an innovation-focused engineering team that helps to keep SingleStore at the cutting edge in databases and analytics. As a Software Engineer, Intern on the Launch Pad, you work with a highly collaborative group of talented engineers to imagine and implement the future of databases. You can check out some of the recent work by the Launch Pad team on Github. Extending the SingleStoreDB engine with a WebAssembly (Wasm) runtime and building out the Wasm developer toolkit is one example of the type of things we do. Building an amazing Python database interface that is also extremely fast is another example. The WRIT repo is an example of a recent intern project. You will have the opportunity to spend 12 weeks working with the team at the forefront of real-time analytics technology that is revolutionizing how companies run their businesses every day. You will also interact daily with other engineering teams and work collaboratively and creatively across teams to maximize your opportunity for impact. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be empowered to own your projects end-to-end and be an active contributor throughout the project. To expedite your growth path, you will be mentored by engineers who care deeply about your success and will lend their expertise to your professional development. Our engineers are not just technical partners/mentors, but are also business partners who are exposed to all areas of the business, including product, marketing, and sales.  We also believe it is important to celebrate our wins together whether it be at a local spot or getting out of the city for some exploring. Role and Responsibilities Our interns are responsible for projects that make an impact. Depending on the nature of the project, your work might get published on GitHub or deployed into production in the next release of SingleStoreDB. Your work will include everything from writing to testing software, and you will gain a significant understanding of both the product and the business. You will work closely with a designated mentor on the project and participate in Launch Pad team meetings and activities. You have the opportunity to present progress regularly to the Launch Pad team and toward the end of the internship to all of Engineering. Required Skills and Experience
