Your Job: The Run-Sight Lab is the Consumer Insights team at Brooks. The team applies design thinking and a mixed-method research approach to unlock the key wants and needs of all who run. The Run-Sight Lab works to anticipate future needs of runners, empower internal teams with deep insights and recommendations to create innovative products and strategies, and inform decisions to help the brand adapt to shifts in the market.   Within the Run-Sight Lab, the Design Research function is focused on building a future vision through the generation, synthesis, and application of consumer insights, prototyping and testing ideas and communication with a strong focus on highlighting the insights and building empathy with internal teams.   As a Senior Design Researcher, you will work together with internal and cross-functional team members on consumer research projects for Brooks to elevate the voice and perspective of the runner in strategic business decisions. You will lead and develop qualitative research methods, incorporating and guiding quantitative research approaches to complement the insights. You will lead a wide variety of experience prototype generation to test and learn with runners. Your expertise in synthesis and insight translation will ensure the work resonates with stakeholders and clearly communicates findings in an influential way. You will guide and support the use of the visual design language of the Run-Sight Lab team. You will build on the team’s design-thinking approach, bringing inspiration/trend and workshop leadership to our process. Your experience and knowledge will be highly valued as you mentor and share with other members of the Run-Sight Lab team. 

Your Responsibilities:

Strategy & Innovation: Demonstrate and encourage a growth mindset, with a focus on adaptability and the ability to pivot. Demonstrate thought leader, championing new ideas in both consumer-facing brand and product experiences, as well as internal team and company processes.

Design Excellence: Responsible for creating and championing the standard for design execution of prototyping, ideation methods, and presentation design.

Research Methods Development: Identify research opportunities, define, and align on research questions, and select the appropriate methods to get the data.

Research Execution: Ability to conduct research and execute on the plan with high-level proficiency. Manage all aspects of running research (recruitment, interviewing, data management, archiving, etc.) Strong familiarity with in-person and digital research tools and awareness of research best practices and approaches.

Analytics & Analysis: Skilled in effective synthesis and data interpretation. Ability to understand, guide, and tie together quantitative and qualitative data sets.

Generate & Design Solutions: Working with a bias to action, identify needs and proactively ideate and visualize solutions (both for external consumers and internal processes).

Storytelling: Effectively lead the team in influencing cross-functional partners by presenting key insights and strategies with clarity, brevity, and strong visual design. Ability to demonstrate the value of research, voicing a point of view on the work.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Connect with internal team members to develop mutually beneficial relationships. Build upon existing research throughout the company. Advocate for the work of the team.

Mentorship: Support team growth, showcasing fundamentals and best practices, leading by example and being accessible to team members when needed.

Project Management: Scope and plan projects, continually moving the work forward to completion.

Balance Project Load: Work efficiently to lead and support the needs of multiple work streams concurrently.

People Management: Guide fellow researchers and cross-functional partners in understanding how to collect and apply consumer insights.

Stakeholder Management: Know how and when to effectively communicate to stakeholders. Understand the most efficient way to present information depending on the audience.

Market/ Competitive Landscape Awareness/ Business Awareness: Continually seek out current institutional and industry knowledge, as well as awareness of trends in the market and the industry.

Budget Management: Build awareness and understanding of team and project budgets and design research to support the spending plan.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in design, human factors, human-computer interaction, psychology, anthropology, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience) 7+years of experience working on human-centered design research projects required 2+ years of experience using digital design, prototyping, and collaboration applications (such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Miro, Mural, Dovetail) required 3+ years of experience using digital research applications (such as UserZoom, User Testing, Dscout) preferred 1-2 years management or lead experience preferred Experience leading team ideation, synthesis, and opportunity workshops preferred Excellent oral and written communications skills – skilled presenter (using Microsoft PowerPoint)

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $121,394 - $194,271 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
